Yellow Wedding Ideas - Ira and Lucy

Here's a little sunshine for your Monday afternoon! If you follow us on Instagram, you'll see I have an obsession with these dusty, muted tones! The yellow and gray wedding palette has been done a million times, so I suggest opting for a more toned down hue and layering your palette to more than just yellow and gray. Hope you enjoy our yellow wedding ideas board! We adore this vintage chair featured at the Bliss and Bespoke Retreat! The added pop of pink/violet is beautiful! Bliss and Bespoke Retreat Caroline Lima Photography

You can see we incorporated vintage elements and popped in some mid-century modern vibes with  the vase selection. Texture is key! Chiffon, lace, velvet tufting, wood, greenery - layering is the key to quality design! For our groom, how about stepping away from a tux rental and go with a charcoal suit and a dapper bow tie! YES PLEASE! Love it! This look is really quite achievable and works great for the couple on a budget, but design in mind! We love us a vintage accent chair, perfect for those bridal portraits, special seating at dinner and then used again for the garter toss! When we chat with our clients we talk a lot about how to repurpose decor elements to save on the budget! Think about how that chair will make for way cooler pics for the garter toss then a regular folding chair? Just say'n ;)

yellowweddingboardAs you know we are pretty smitten over Maggie Sottero Gowns and think the "Anna" gown in the champagne tone would be so gorgeous with this concept. It's "a stunning fit and flare wedding dress featuring pleated tulle and flaring into a voluminous skirt, is complete with romantic sweetheart neckline and finished with corset closure" You can find Maggie gowns at exclusive retailer, Heartfelt Bridal, just off Fairview Avenue.

As for adding in those modern elements - think color blocking or geometric shapes and lines. Hook up with local invitation and specialty paper designers Paperie + Pen just down the road from Heartfelt Bridal at The Village at Meridian! They have a dreamy paper shop that you will die for! This is a great place to also get thank you cards for your bridesmaids, gifts for your friends and family and a whole lot more!

Facing Fears

Apologies for being away for a bit. We have been quite busy with wedding season, as well as our family coping with the loss of our second child, Gabriel, just over a month ago. Early in our pregnancy, to our devastation we learned that Gabriel had major developmental anomalies. It has been the most painful and difficult time of our lives. I'm still trying to process it all, and am sure I will need a lifetime to do so. I carried our sweet boy for as long as my body would allow... just after the 21 week mark I became severely ill and had to be hospitalized. My body was shutting down... a few days later Gabriel was born...our angel. Right now I can't go into more details because it's too much for me and yet still so deeply close to our hearts that we aren't ready to share it all with the world. I have tried my best to keep our personal life, and in particular this difficult journey separate from our business part of life, but it is difficult at times to do that. I've always worn my heart on my sleeve, and I'll admit I was terrified that by sharing our struggles it would harm our business. I feared our clients or those considering us for services would run for the hills, demand their money back and that other businesses in our industry would avoid us as well. The complete opposite has happened and I am so incredibly touched. Instead, our clients old and brand new AND those in the industry have been nothing short of amazing. The patience, compassion, love, the tender thoughts and gestures... I am forever amazed at the human heart. Thank you... Thank you for allowing us to be honest, to be real and to share our difficult journey with you, even though I was so terrified to. We know many of you are wondering more about our story and some of you have been following us every step of the way. Should you want to know more about Gabriel's story you are welcome to read our [button url="http://thewighthouse.tumblr.com/"]FAMILY BLOG[/button] We have found some healing in sharing and will continue to tell it as we take life a day at a time. Thank you for still loving us, for still supporting us and for continuing to invite us to be part of your weddings and special events. Ira & Lucy is such a lifeline for us and we deeply thank you.

Alright, here's my attempt at wiping the tears away and sharing the projects we have had going on. We were pleased to produce the styled shoot featured on the cover and inside the first edition of McCall Wedding and Event Directory, McWED. Sherry, the Editor in Chief, invited us to be part of the creative process with bringing her dream alive. It was quite the exciting journey and it continues! We designed the logo, the branding, including the new website and were part of designing the magazine. It's a fabulous and much needed resource, be sure to check it out! This shoot was a challenge for me. I was pregnant with Gabriel, unsure if I would miscarry at any time and the onslaught of emotions and grief and dealing with the unpleasantries that pregnancy can offer. However, I was so excited to work with such a great team and it was good for me to have a project to focus on. I was first approached by Kindra, the videographer, at the wedding show in January. She and her dear friend, Ellie, the photographer, had hopes for putting together a cinematic styled shoot. After lots of talking about goals and vision I was thrilled that both Ellie and Kindra handed the reins over to me. After doing quite a few styled shoots, I have found how crucial it is to have a Creative Director/Producer. You get a bunch of "creatives" in the kitchen and boy can it be chaotic :) I know you creatives out there know exactly what I mean ;) We put together the rest of the team and was it a wonder to see it all come together. I will never forget the evening before the shoot. Lindsey (Behrens Artistry) and I went into crisis mode to come up with different bridesmaid dresses. We walked all over this town searching for the right gowns! Lindsey was making sure I was staying hydrated and eating protein bars. We were thrilled to find the gowns at H&M in the perfect Hemlock hue and the blue belts! We planned every single detail and are so pleased how it came together! Great job team! Below are some of my favorites from the shoot and don't miss the beautiful film production by Kindra.

We so much believe in the value of networking with other creatives in our industry! One of our absolute favorites, the Soiree Girls, who designed this incredible dreamy winter wedding, utilized much of our inventory to make it all come together. We were honored to be a part and are head over heels in love with the end result. Applause Soiree!!! Thank you Dylan and Sara Photography for capturing such a beautiful day. xoxo Farm Tables 1

Ralph Lauren Equestrian Inspired...Styled Bridal Photo Shoot by Ira & Lucy

It's finally time! Many of you have been so kind emailing us craving more pictures from our Ralph Lauren Equestrian Inspired Styled Bridal Shoot. This shoot is very near and dear to my heart! Long before Ira & Lucy even came about, I had dreamed of a fairytale photo shoot featuring a beautiful horse with elements of high fashion and rustic elegance. It took many hours of careful preparation and pulling together a dream team to make this happen! Why Ralph Lauren you ask? I am very drawn to the iconic design Ralph Lauren has become greatly admired for. His blend of rustic accents with refined elegance is breath-taking. I love his focus on different textures and patterns. His attention to detail, beauty and the uniqueness of design. Check out this film featuring Ralph Lauren.

Equestrian-1

Equestrian-2The tablescape featured a custom handcrafted reclaimed barn wood farm table by Jacob, owner of Rocky Mountain Barn Board and Beam. He is our go-to man for the stunning farm tables we carry in our rental inventory! These beauties rent out quite a bit and we encourage you to contact us sooner than later for your special event. I custom designed the table runner and with tones of browns and creams that pulled in the color of the wood, chargers and horse stalls. I also loved that the fabric had roses on it. I played with different textures, woven chargers, china, brass, crystal stemware and milk glass. Will, with Flowers At Will, put together this classic and elegant hydrangea centerpiece focusing on adding height and playing off the amber and brown hues. Instead of placing one lamp as the centerpiece, I opted for two Ralph Lauren Designer lamps on either side of the larger floral design. Imagine at a real wedding, these could be lit for beautiful lighting! Vintage books, and masculine bookends created a Ralph Lauren masculinity and drama. Paperie and Pen designed a matching invitation suite, place cards and menus for us that were to die for!!!

Equestrian-3 Equestrian-4 Equestrian-5 Equestrian-6 Equestrian-7LeAnn with Heartfelt Bridal was so incredible helping us find the perfect gowns! We were sad we lost the sun at the end of the shoot since we had one more bridal gown ready to go... another shoot perhaps! LeAnn is such a sweetheart and genuinely cares about her customers. Together, with her dresses and veils and the stunning makeup and hair by Lindsey with Behrens Artistry...WOW! GORGEOUS! The three of us worked quite close planning the different hair and makeup looks and how they worked with the two gowns. I found the most perfect equestrian fashion hat, riding gloves, and equestrian inspired belt. She even wore darling bow earrings that matched the cascading bows down the back of the wedding gown. SWOON! What I love about the black lace dress by Jordan Fashions, is that it is considered a "mother of the bride" gown, however you can see that with the right styling it is versatile for many looks!

2014 Wedding Show Memories

BEGINS WITH THE INSPIRATION BOARD WEDDING SHOW BOARDTHE BEFORE

The BEFORE

As if I wasn't feeling anxious enough! 10 minutes into the start of the first day a camera crew showed up to interview us! I don't even remember how I answered the questions! I just kept telling myself to act normal and ignore the boom microphone hanging above my head. P.S. don't you just LOVE our new lamps!!!?

interivewweddingshowreview

Anyone recognize our newest coffee table?! Meet "Serena"! "Katherine" the hand painted vintage table created a darling cake table! This became multiple bride's "must have" item!

There are always adjustments to the plan, but I'm still very pleased with the outcome of our booth! I'm already thinking of what we'll do next year! This year we heard some 2014 trend interest: color mint and gold (swoon!), gold gold gold everything, adoration for our gold "Madeline" chairs, our vintage blue lounge furniture, floral in all white, chandeliers and more chandeliers, 1920s styled weddings, and rustic elegance! Oh we can't wait to help our couples design their weddings! Did I mention we met quite a few awesome grooms!? My hubby was very involved in our wedding and it's so fun when I meet couples with the groom so involved!

Yes...we were the last ones out! Not only did we have our booth, but we also helped supply vintage props for 5 other vendor booths! Vintage made quite the appearance this year! Yay! I owe a MASSIVE THANK YOU to some incredible friends who helped me make this all possible!

My hubby Jonnathan who stands beside me day in and day out as we dream and jump into adventure together! Tara with An Open Vase who specially designed gorgeous flowers for me and came every single day to ensure they were perfect! Lindsey with Behrens Artistry who not only makes me feel beautiful, but has become such a special friend! Frannie and Nichole with Paperie & Pen who designed the paper details for our sweetheart table and helped me feel more confident and special with their daily check ins and uplifting chats! Arielle our newest Ira & Lucy team member! She is incredible with brides and has a great eye for design! Greg Marsh who designed a custom cake for our booth and featured our vintage props in his booth! LeAnn with Heartfelt Bridal. One of those rare people that you just connect with and adore so much! Daci with Wedding Gowns by Daci who also featured our vintage props and has become a good friend. Will, Becky and Frances I love getting to know you better and am excited to work with you more! Natasha and Lance from Meridian Floral and Event Rent who have also become great friends, so supportive and encouraging and always reliable! P.S. you have to have Natasha's chicken soup! It's to die for! Brianne & Tyler, Stephanie, Kate, Judy and Will thank you for your friendships, unconditional love and support! xoxo Hugs to Tana, Brandi, Danielle and Kristin!
