Black & White Bridal Shower Tied With a Bow

Proof That DIY Can Still Feel Elevated

If you’re planning a black and white–themed celebration and love a good DIY moment, this one’s for you. This bridal shower we designed last spring was all about showing how intentional choices + the right partners can turn a hands-on event into something that still feels polished and editorial. This is the kind of project we adore: creative, collaborative, and totally doable with a little guidance. We leaned into a modern black-and-white palette to keep things clean, timeless, and flexible.

The goal?

Make it approachable for a DIY host, without sacrificing style.

  • Florals: We sourced blooms from Fifty Flowers, a locally headquartered floral provider specifically tailored to the DIY client. The ordering process was seamless, everything arrived fresh and on time, and the selection made it easy to stay on theme without overthinking it.

  • Centerpieces: These were created together with a small group of friends and immediate family—simple recipes, easy assembly, and a fun pre-event activity that doubled as quality time.

  • Statement Arrangements: For the larger, more intricate floral moments, Posies Floral stepped in to handle the elevated pieces. This hybrid approach is one of our favorite tricks: DIY where it makes sense, professional support where it counts.

  • Splurge on Linen and Chairs: Linen and chairs in an event space can make the biggest visual impact. Imagine the space below with simple white linen - it would have felt bare and just “okay”. But, adding in a bold pattern filled in the design space with a fun, chic design and really allowed the chairs and floral to pop. We can help line up your rentals and linen!

Why This Approach Works

This shower is a great example of what we love showing DIY-focused clients:

✔️ You don’t have to do everything yourself
✔️ Strategic outsourcing saves stress (and often money)
✔️ A limited color palette = instant cohesion
✔️ Professional design guidance helps DIY feel intentional, not chaotic

With a little planning—and a little help from Ira and Lucy—DIY doesn’t have to mean cutting corners. It can mean creating something personal, meaningful, and beautifully executed.

A special gift opening vignette for the bride!
